The Review (Rango)

My background: I've never been a huge fan of westerns, in fact the only one I own is Back to the Future Part III and that is seriously pushing it. However, I am a fan of Johnny Depp and I used to be a kid so I can stand to watch a Nickelodeon film. Let's get to the review.

Review: Cliché human story makes fun animated story. Eastwood might laugh.

Verdict: worth it.

Also, I was totally fooled by Timothy Olyphant as the Spirit of the West (a.k.a. the Man with No Name).

The Science

Here's a little 1amscience preview.

Do you know anything about particle physics? Astrophysics? Physics? Well, even if you don't, if you're at this site you probably know a little bit about time travel (if not I'll direct you to Back to the Future, Flight of the Navigator, or any of a few thousand time travel films, but not Primer. At least not to start). If you haven't heard about the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) I'll do my best to sum up what it does in a few words: it's a big ring that smashes atoms that move very very very fast at each other. Accelerating protons up to a very small fraction below the speed of light is pretty awesome, but just don't stare at the picture of the LHC below for too long because it looks like it might swallow you whole.

The Week (of 2.13.11)

The 7th week of the year opens up with Valentine's Day. Don't have any gift ideas yet? Check out all of these releases, perfect for your loved one. Pick up Unstoppable, featuring Denzel Washington and Captain Kirk, or the Gears of War: Triple Pack to shred up the Locust horde together. Or, Hyperdimension Neptunia which actually sounds like a pretty decent game that apparently is about goddesses, based on video game consoles, fighting some weird overlord which is probably named after some codenamed console. Yeah, weird I know, but it's an RPG and the guys over at IGN said that it was actually interesting. Totally off topic. Read on for this week's releases.
