The Monday (01.24.11)

In case you haven't heard, I've declared that all Mondays shall henceforth be known as Tom Sawyer Mondays. Why? Well, firstly it's because I have that kind of power. Secondly, I always thought that the lyrics to Rush's "Tom Sawyer" started with "A Monday warrior", but in actuality it is "A modern day warrior". So that's the reason. What should you expect? Simple. I'll post a Rush song in video form here, with lyrics. Or, I'll post a Mark Twain quote. See what I did there? Because Mark Twain wrote The Adventures of Tom Sawyer...okay so that was a bad joke, but I'll still be doing that anyway. These will be just short, quick posts to start your work/school/whatever week off just right.

As the inaugural post, there is only one song to play. Sing along with the lyrics below.

A modern day warrior
Mean mean stride,
Today's Tom Sawyer
Mean mean pride.

Though his mind is not for rent
Don't put him down as arrogant
His reserve, a quiet defense
Riding out the day's events
The river

What you say about his company
Is what you say about society
Catch the mist, catch the myth
Catch the mystery, catch the drift

The world is, the world is
Love and life are deep
Maybe as his skies are wide

Today's Tom Sawyer
He gets high on you
And the space he invades
He gets by on you

No his mind is not for rent
To any god or government
Always hopeful, yet discontent
He knows changes aren't permanent
But change is

And what you say about his company
Is what you say about society
Catch the witness, catch the wit
Catch the spirit, catch the spit

The world is, the world is
Love and life are deep
Maybe as his eyes are wide

Exit the warrior
Today's Tom Sawyer
He gets high on you
And the energy you trade
He gets right on to the friction of the day

Dream on.
