The Theory (1)

Hey folks. Sorry again for the lack of posts. Between staying out of trouble while visiting with folks back home and grading tons of stuff for the physics class I TA for, I've been a bit busy. Sadly, no Christmas cash to spend on those awesome after Christmas sales but that's not what I'm here to talk about. I'm here to tell you about my Women Who Love Star Wars Theory (or WWLSW Theory).

The Week (of 12.26.10)

Happy Canadian Boxing Day? Yeah, I don't know what it means either, but I do know a thing or two about how you can spend your time while you're in your holiday coma.

December 24, 2010

The Hope

To reuse the title of one of the greatest movies of all time, Stargate Universe may indeed have A New Hope.

The Holiday

Tomorrow is Christmas Day, so like most of America, I'll be taking that day off from posting and from most other things besides eating, drinking, and being merry. So this is my short post to everyone out there: Thanks for reading thus far. There is more to come in 2011and hopefully improvements to make this something that you'll definitely want to stick around for. Plus, more contests, more news, and just more of everything. Spread the love this holiday season folks.

Happy Holidays!

And just so you know, you all now have less than 24 hours before the contest ends, so get to it! I'm also glad to see that Sean Connery is your favorite Bond.

Dream on (of sugar plums and whatnot).

The Trap

Home for the holidays? I am, hence the lack of posts this week--my apologies about that--but I'd like to let you know it's a trap.

The Contest (2)

You know, it's the holidays, and in the spirit of giving I'm going to be giving a bit more than usual. Two movies? Try three. This contest prize will be the original Star Wars Trilogy. That's right, three of your favorite movies in one contest. But don't think you'll get off with an easy five question quiz on this one. This time around, try thirteen. But, as an early gift to you all, I've decided that there won't be super personal questions anymore, however, there will be questions that can be answered by looking through previous posts of this blog. As always, those questions will be at the end (this time it's the last two). Get ready, and may the Force be with you.
  1. What is the identification number of the stormtrooper whose armor Luke takes?
  2. Who died on November 27, 2010?
  3. What is the number of the planet in the Hoth system where Echo Base was established?
  4. Who is the first character to speak in A New Hope.
  5. Who shot first?
  6. In what other George Lucas written movie was Obi Wan referenced?
  7. Burt Reynolds was up for which role in A New Hope?
  8. What this video:

What movie is Mace Windu quoting?
  9. What does Boba Fett cruise Mos Espa in?
  10. What is the original title of Return of the Jedi?
  11. True or False: The Wampa scene from Empire existed prior to Mark Hamill's face-altering car accident.
  12. Instrumental Health features Star Wars. What is Instrumental Health?
  13. What is the name of the new Australian TV show about out of the closet geeks?
The contest will end five days from now which is Saturday, December 25 (Christmas Day) at 12:01. The winner is the random contestant chosen from those who submit all correct answers. Email your answers to archymedius@gmail.com or send a Facebook message. Good luck.

Dream on.

[END TRANMISSION]

[INSTANT TRANSMISSION]

For you sci-fi fans out there, in case you haven't heard the Stargate franchise will be coming to an end in 2011 due to Syfy canceling SGU. You may have no experience with the show firsthand nor know much about Stargate, but sci-fi fans should stick together, especially when TV shows are endangered. So head on over to my rant and my petition and sign it to convince Syfy to bring the series back and help prevent this happening to other beloved franchises in the future.

    The Week (of 12.19.10)

Need an excuse to keep busy while visiting the family for the holidays? Follow the excuses, or rather release dates below.

    December 16, 2010

    The Petition

Hate to see SGU go? Want it renewed? Comment below and we'll submit this petition to Syfy to show just how much you care about one of your favorite series. Let's go SGUnit! Email this petition to fellow Gaters and share it with all of your friends across the interwebs. We need to get this thing going strong if we want show Syfy that we're serious.

(Plus, how the heck could they cancel the series when the creators themselves said that its a five year story?)

Tune in. Pledge here. Dream on.

    The Rant

Okay, I apologize in advance but this is definitely going to be a bit of a rant. A short one, but a rant nonetheless.

First, let me ask you this: Do you have a favorite TV show?

    December 15, 2010

    The Rhythm (1)

Jon Favreau stepping down from Iron Man 3, a big list of the big games in 2011, a gay Big Bang Theory, oh and I guess they cured HIV or something.

The Rhythm: Random entertainment news from around the net in new bite size quantities.

    The Redemption

Transformers 2. A lot of people say this was a horrible movie, and Michael Bay agrees. Pirates of the Caribbean 3 (and 2) are also on the list of less than stellar sequels. Well get ready for some redemption this summer with Transformers: Dark of the Moon (not to be confused with Dark Side of the Moon, the Pink Floyd album) and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Haven't heard of either of these films? Have you been living in a realm of a spotless Hollywood where all series that have horrible sequels go to die and never return? Then what the heck do you watch on the weekends if not The Matrix Reloaded or Spider-man 3? I kid of course. But seriously, from the trailers alone, both of these movies look like they could be returning to the fun awesomeness that summer movies are made of, and the same adventures that started the series. Check out the trailers below.

    The Happifying

happify - (verb) to make or become happy

That word is thanks to an old friend of mine, and I take no credit for it. But it does adequately state the topic of this post.

Living in the United States, and in this time of amazing technology, most of us have access to ways to make ourselves happy, even in the darkest night, saddest day, and deepest gloom. I personally turn to the ultimate method of relaxation, rejuvenation, and happification (that's right, a new form of the word): music. Whether playing it for real with UTA, the band which I drum for, playing it on Rock Band, or just listening to it, music has the power to make sense, even when the rest of the world doesn't, and especially when I don't.

    The Sequel

2011 is the year of 3 (and 2, and 4 or 5 in some cases).

Big sequels are set to arrive this coming year in the video game industry, and I'm not talking just about games. There have been talks about the fabled PSP2, we know the Nintendo 3DS is set to release, and 2011 marks five years since the Wii was released, and according to all the statistics, Nintendo should be prepping a new console at the end of this year.

    The Week (of 12.12.10)

Release dates and more, now in one convenient dose.

    The Direction

I'm a full-time graduate student, part-time musician, part-time producer, part-time writer, part-time director, and full-time imaginist. Yeah, it gets to be a lot to fill one head with, but what I really hope to become full-time is a director/writer/producer. I dabbled a bit in this towards the end of high school and throughout college, but never to the extent I would have liked for multiple reasons: a thesis, actors, equipment, and money. I don't pretend to know everything, or even enough about making movies to compare to Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Peter Jackson, or Christopher Nolan, but I intend to learn. Not through classes, or books, but by watching and studying and most importantly doing.

WARNING: Let me just start this off with a warning. To all the single ladies, I mean straight ladies, either stop reading now, or know now that you could possibly be offended by the following post. But know this, no offense is meant by it at all. And if you do happen to keep reading and aren't offended, please give us some feedback here.

    The Contest (1)

    The First Contest.

"Wait, hold on. You said somthing about a Contest"?!?!

    The Beginning

So I've been thinking about creating a blog for awhile now. Why? Well I have a lot to offer, I think anyway.I know plenty of people who aren't as up to date on entertainment as I appear to be, so I figure I could do some sharing of that here. Movies, TV, video games, technology and whatnot will all find some sort of place here. But that's not what I'm all about. On the surface, I'm a scientist, which makes me part philosopher so I'll probably end up sharing my deep (or shallow) thoughts about life and the way the universe appears to work here as well. Feel free to comment, destroy, applaud, or whatever you wish to these entries. I realize as a member of a somewhat technological society, and just being me, that most of what I want to say never gets out there because let's face it, words are a difficult form of communication (for me anyway).
